PI’s electronic engineering team is highly capable in the design of complex electronics for medical devices including: system architecture, schematic & PCB layout using Altium designer, loom design, prototyping, assembly and transfer to manufacture. Our electronics laboratory has the capability for fine pitch fabrication, in-house testing and small scale prototype production.

Our capabilities include:
  • High density, double sided PCB design for compact hand-held instruments.
  • Design for electrical safety, EMC and medical device compliance including the management of testing and approvals.
  • DFM (Design for manufacturing) including end of line testability and design of production test equipment.
  • Error and tolerance sensitivity analysis, reliability analysis, reliability testing and reliability test program design.
  • CAD based electro-mechanical integration, at the component level, board level and assembly level.
  • Cross discipline embedded firmware engineers with degrees in both electronics and software engineering.
We have proven capabilities with a wide variety of technologies, including:
  • Motor control algorithms and designs, including FPGA and DSP based controllers.
  • Connectivity in a variety of wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Zigbee, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n), as well as Ethernet, USB, RS-485, RS-232 and many more.
  • Power supply (including medical grade) integration and distribution, including a wide range of battery powered device options.
  • Cabling and harnesses design and integration (DFM, safety, reliability, cost reduction).
  • User interface design including technologies for TFT/LCD and touch screen capabilities.
  • Technologies for temperature control and monitoring ranging from cost sensitive to high resolution / high accuracy.
  • Imaging device integration and image processing design.
  • Medical device designs ranging from handheld to large robotically automated instrumentation.
  • Consumer electronics through to industrial and laboratory equipment.
